Trucking management software that actually fits the way your yard runs
RootaRig is trucking management software built in Australia, for the sort of transport operators who still know every driver by first name and every rig by its rattle. Live dispatch, a driver app that works out the back of Bourke, electronic PODs, and customer tracking your reception team won't dread using.
Why yet another trucking system?
We've all sat through a demo where an overseas rep clicks around a slick screen and says the magic word "customisable" every time you ask a question. Two months later you're paying for a per-seat licence, a per-vehicle fee and an integration bill that wasn't in the quote, and the drivers still ring the office because the app times out when they hit the range past Dubbo. RootaRig started because a mate of ours running a small fleet out of the Central Coast couldn't find a piece of trucking management software that felt like it was built for a real yard rather than a boardroom.
So we built one. It's not the flashiest system on the market and it doesn't pretend to do payroll or replace your accountant. What it does do is take a job from the phone call, through allocation, out to the driver, back with a signature and a photo, and in front of the customer — without three double-entries and without you paying extra every time you hire a new subbie.
What "trucking management software" should actually cover
The phrase gets thrown around loosely, so it's worth being straight about what a proper system needs to handle for an Australian operator:
- Bookings and quoting — accepting jobs from customers, subbies and your own sales team, quoting them, and turning that quote into a live job without retyping the address.
- Allocation and dispatch — a board where the allocator can see every rig, every driver and every unassigned load in one glance, then drag jobs onto the right truck.
- Driver workflow — a phone app that shows the run, captures pickup and delivery events, PODs, signatures and damage photos, and keeps working when the signal drops.
- Customer visibility — a tracking page the customer can bookmark, with milestone alerts so they stop ringing to ask "where's my load?"
- Reporting and admin — CSVs your bookkeeper can actually open, overdue reports, on-time performance and a paper trail for insurance disputes.
Miss any one of those and the job falls back on somebody's phone or a piece of butcher's paper on the allocator's desk. Cover all five and you've suddenly got your evenings back.
How RootaRig fits together
The system is broken into a few tools, and you can use as many or as few as you want. Small blokes running two rigs tend to start with the dispatch board and driver app, then bolt on the customer portal once word gets around. Bigger operators plug the lot in from day one and connect it to their existing MyTrucking or accounting workflow.
Drag jobs onto rigs, see who's loaded, who's empty and who's about to knock off. Filters for driver, status and depot so a fleet of forty stays as readable as a fleet of four.
Runs offline, queues POD photos and signatures, and syncs the moment the phone catches a bar. Deep links out to Google Maps or Waze so drivers use the nav they already know.
Signature capture, delivery photos, damage notes and timestamped events land against the job automatically — no more chasing paper dockets at end of week.
A tracking page in your colours and logo. Customers get milestone SMS and email alerts, so the phones go quiet and your reception can go back to actual work.
Built for Australian yards
We priced it in Australian dollars, we bill through Paddle as our merchant of record so you get a proper GST-friendly invoice, and every address field validates against Australian address components — Address 1, Address 2, Suburb, State, Post Code — before it's saved and before it's pushed to MyTrucking. Multi-drop jobs interleave pickups and drops in the exact order the driver will do them, which sounds obvious until you've used a system that thinks every job is one pickup and one delivery.
The whole thing is realtime. When your allocator moves a job onto a driver, the driver's phone updates in under a second. When the driver marks arrived at a site, the customer's tracking page ticks over before they can refresh it. There's no polling, no five-minute lag, no "give the system a second, love."
Getting off the ground
You can be up and running the same afternoon. Sign up, add your rigs, invite your drivers by SMS and your allocator by email, and start entering jobs. We've kept the onboarding deliberately light because we know how much stick you cop from your team the first week you roll out anything new. If you're moving off spreadsheets or an older system, drop us a line and we'll help you import your customer list and open jobs.
Not sure yet? Have a look at the fleet management side of the platform for vehicle compliance, servicing and driver documents, or read up on our transport management system for Australian operators if you handle bigger runs with more than one drop. Otherwise, grab a quote on your first load and see how it feels end to end.
What it costs
Pricing is honest and per-seat, starting at $59 a month for the Starter plan with a single allocator and up to five drivers, scaling up to a Business plan for multi-depot operators. Every plan includes the driver app, customer tracking and unlimited jobs — we don't charge you per rig or per POD, and there's a 14-day free trial so you can pressure test it against a real week before you commit.

Common questions
Do I have to move off MyTrucking to use RootaRig?
Not at all. Plenty of operators run both — RootaRig for allocation, driver workflow and customer visibility, MyTrucking for the invoicing side. Multi-stop jobs push through with the full stop sequence, addresses split into the correct fields, and contact details attached to each stop.
What happens when the driver's phone loses signal?
The driver app queues everything locally. Photos, signatures, status changes and notes all sit in an offline outbox and sync the moment the phone gets a bar back. Drivers can do a full run through the Snowies or up past Broome without losing a single event.
Can customers self-serve?
Yes. You can send them a branded tracking link for a specific job, or point them at the portal to book new work and accept quotes. Your logo, your colours, your domain if you want it — no "powered by" watermark shoved in their face.
Is my data safe?
Data lives in an Australian region, is encrypted at rest and in transit, and every table is protected by row-level security so an operator on one company can't ever see data from another. We're happy to walk your IT bloke through the security posture if they want a chat.
Ready to have a look?
RootaRig isn't magic and it won't do your BAS for you. What it will do is take the noisy, repetitive bits of running a transport business — the phone calls, the allocations, the "did that get delivered?" pings — and quiet them right down. If that's a problem worth solving in your yard, click through and lodge a quote or start a free trial. Worst case, you find out we're not for you and you've lost half an afternoon. Best case, you get your Sundays back.
